What Fish Can I Catch Near St. Augustine?

In the spring and summer months you can expect to catch big fish near shore in the Atlantic Ocean. King mackerel, cobia, barracuda, sharks, sailfish and amberjacks are a few species typically captured live bait trolling the warmer months.   The water edges toward and above 70 degrees in April and will provide some good action sight fishing manta rays for cobias lurking below.  Further offshore wahoo, tuna,  mahi mahi and billfish are cooperative, with world class trolling action typically peaking in May.

Cooler months provide excellent wahoo and blackfin tuna fishing with periodic waves of  migrating sailfish action well offshore.  Inshore black drum, redfish and speckled trout will be prowling local shell bars, creeks and flats.
